"Some people only dream of angels, we held one in our arms..."

Kierstyn's Story
This memorial site was created in the memory of our beautiful baby girl, Kierstyn Renee Buck, who was born into the arms of angels on September 30, 2007 in Hagerstown, MD at Washington County Hospital. She was only in our arms for a short time, but she will be in our hearts forever!

On September 30, 2007 our precious daughter Kierstyn Renee was born but on this day God chose to take her away from us much too soon. Kierstyn was a true blessing from the heavens above. We would like to share our story with you.

On February 17, 2007 we found out we were pregnant. There were so many emotions running through us that day, but most of all we were so excited to be starting our family together. If our baby was a boy his name was going to be Christian Michael, and if our baby was a girl her name would be Kierstyn...but we couldn't decide on a middle name. Buck wanted us to be surprised at delivery, but I really wanted to know what we were having. So Buck and I made an agreement, I could find out what we were having but he could pick the middle name if the baby was a girl. If the baby was a girl, he wanted her to have my middle name, Renee. At 19 weeks, we found out we were having a precious baby girl. Kierstyn Renee Buck would be her name. Having a fairly uneventful pregnancy (except for the placenta previa in the beginning, and the rising blood pressure towards the end) when 37 weeks came, we were preparing to bring a beautiful baby girl home. God had other plans.

On Thursday, September 27, 2007 around lunch time would be the last time I would feel my, until that day very active, baby girl move. Thursday night I realized that Kierstyn hadn't moved like she usually did, however I just thought she was running out of room and was finally getting ready to show her beautiful face. I went to my regularly scheduled weekly appointment the following day.

At the appointment, the doctor looked through my folder and said everything up until this point looked great, and he asked if I had any questions or concerns. I voiced my concerns about not feeling her move as I had in recent weeks. Using the doppler, he checked for her heartbeat, as they had done in every other appointment, but this time it was different. There was no sound coming from that tiny speaker. My heart shattered to pieces right there! I looked at Buck and tears started falling down both our faces. The doctor rushed me over to the ultrasound machine, and with the saddest tone I've ever heard, he kept uttering the words, "No...No...No." I will never forget those words, I hear them over and over again in my head. There Kierstyn was on the screen, so beautiful, so perfect, but her little heart beat no more. This would be the start of the toughest weekend of my life.

I was sent to the hospital, where everyone was expecting me. But first, we had to make the most difficult phone calls I've ever had to make, and never hope to have to make again. My mom, sister, brother, and dad rushed to the hospital to be at our side. The staff at WCH were amazing. The doctors wanted me to deliver her naturally. This scared me, but I knew it was what I had to do. After thirty long hours of difficult labor (with the anesthesiologist waiting outside my door because towards the end it looked as though a C-section was the only route) Kierstyn was born.
Our daughter was born sleeping so soundly on September 30th, at 0012, she was 7 pounds 9 ounces and 20 1/2 inches long. She had a head full of hair, minus her daddy's bald spot, and beautiful blue eyes. She was so beautiful and looked so peaceful.

As of right now, the cause of her death is still unknown. All we know right now is that somehow her blood mixed with mine, but why this happened is still not known.

During the time after her birth, we were able to hold her and take pictures of her. My mother, Kierstyn's "MiMi" was able to help give our baby girl her first bath. My Aunt Linda and cousin Nicki bought her a beautiful pink dress and diamond cross necklace to wear. I know Kierstyn loved the outfit and felt so pretty in it! My family, and two very special friends, were there until almost 4am with us. We all wanted to be sure that we sent Kierstyn to heaven with much love and lots of hugs and kisses. She was so perfect!! This has been a rough time for Buck and I, as well as for my family and friends. There are days that sometimes I wonder how I will make it through, but Kierstyn gives me the strength to do so.

So many people turned out for her viewing and funeral. I've never seen so much support for a family!! But we couldn't have made it this far without every single last one of them! Our family and friends, co-workers and classmates, have been so amazing!! Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers. We are so lucky to have been blessed with Kierstyn, and the support of so many family and friends.

Much love, Buck and April
